Protecting animals and our environment

Our environment and the welfare of animals is a political priority of mine and something that is close to my heart, which is why I made my maiden speech on the Animal Sentience Bill.

Like myself, the constituents of Old Bexley and Sidcup are passionate about their pets and animal welfare, which is why I continue to campaign for greater protections for animals, including pushing for progress of the Kept Animals Bill and meeting with animal welfare charities to ensure the Government delivers on a series of ambitious reforms for animal welfare standards.

Prior to becoming an MP, I specialised in sustainable investing and research projects globally and I am passionate about environmental protections. I am a member of the Conservative Environment Network and emphasise that our climate is changing. For the next generations sake, we need to take measures to protect the planet, but these measures must work for ordinary people to allow the transition to be a success.

More locally, it’s important that we live in a healthy environment and we should be proud of our green spaces, fantastic recycling record and our green belt. This is why I will fight any inappropriate developments in our area as the MP. I will also work with the Council to install electric vehicle charging points so it’s easier for local residents to be greener.
