Old Bexley and Sidcup MP Louie French today opened Beths Grammar School's new sixth-form building, cutting the ribbon at a ceremony with teachers, parents, pupils, former Bexley mayor Eileen Pallen and local Conservative councillors Kurtis Christoforides and Cameron Smith.
Mr French said: "It's a privilege to open Beths Grammar School's state-of-the-art new Jubilee Sixth Form Centre. With 14 new classrooms, study spaces, and an eatery, it will be a fantastic place for sixth formers to learn. I know from speaking to the school's excited and ambitious sixth formers that this building will make an enormous difference to their education.
"So many people have made this project possible. My late predecessor, James Brokenshire, helped get the idea off the ground. I was pleased to do my part to get it over the line when I was elected, with one of my first acts as MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup to help secure the government funding needed. But it's truly thanks to the school leaders, trustees and community who fundraised, designed and built this dedicated sixth form. This project wouldn't have been completed without their hard work, determination and persistence. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this happen."
