Louie French MP has today launched a campaign to stop Labour’s plan to hike the Dart Charge in another assault on Bexley motorists.
Under the Government’s plans, the toll will increase to £3.50 per crossing from 1st September 2025. It follows Sadiq Khan’s decision to expand the daily £12.50 Ulez charge across Greater London, impose a toll of up to £4 at the Blackwall Tunnel, and increase the Congestion Charge to £18.
The Dart Charge was first introduced to fund the construction of the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, but it was paid for more than two decades ago. Labour’s latest hike means more than 180,000 motorists per day will have to fork out more to cross the Thames.
Old Bexley and Sidcup MP Louie French said: “This is yet another cash grab to squeeze Bexley motorists. There is not one driving charge that Labour has not expanded, hiked or imposed. It’s unaffordable, Bexley says no. If you agree, please sign my petition.”
