Location of Welling's new Banking Hub

Louie French has welcomed that a location for the new Welling Banking Hub has now been secured at 97-99 Welling High Street (the former Barclays Bank premises).

Once opened later this year, the Hub will provide counter services by the major banks in one place to carry out regular cash transactions alongside a one-to-one service for customers with more complicated issues to talk with their own banking provider on a weekly rotation basis as set out below:

Monday: Nationwide

Tuesday: NatWest

Wednesday: Lloyds

Thursday: Barclays

Friday: Santander (am), HSBC, (pm)

As one of the two local MPs for Welling, Louie will continue to push and monitor the progress of the Banking Hub, which is currently at the stage of fitting out the new premises, and Louie is also campaigning for a Banking Hub in Sidcup which you can support the petition via our campaigns page.

Commenting, Louie said:

“I am delighted that important progress has been made for Welling’s Banking Hub which will be invaluable for the local community and High Street given there are currently no banks in Welling High Street.

“I fully recognise the significant importance local businesses and residents place on local banking services, particularly elderly and vulnerable residents and I will continue to stand up for access to cash and banking services.”

I completely share residents' concern and disappointment over the closure of many local banks, most recently the announcements that Natwest, Lloyds and Halifax will follow the closures of HSBC and Barclays on Sidcup High Street.
